Higher Education Project
Sri Sathya Sai Higher Education Project (SSSHEP):
Inspired by the selfless service by Sri Sathya Sai BABA, Sai youth of Hyderabad has started Sri Sathya Sai Higher Education Project (SSSHEP). Program provides free, residential higher education to orphaned and underprivileged students from rural areas. The program focuses on academic excellence as well as moral education, Vedic knowledge, participation in social service, and spoken English. We have successfully educated 25 boys in engineering, arts, and science streams so far and currently 15 Boys are pursuing studies.
Along side academics, students involvement in seva projects shall set a goal in their lives as well as gain exposure to softer aspects such as Team building, Logistics/Coordination, planning etc. Boys showed a lot of interest in these seva projects as they get meet and learn from senior brothers. As part as Vedic chants, they are currently learning Sri Rudhra Chamakam. Completed Rudram-Namakam, Suryopanishad, Purusha Suktam, Narayana Suktam, Sri Suktam, Bhu Suktam, Medha Suktam and Durga Suktam.
These kids had a big dream of quality education in their small villages has lead them thus far. Their hard-work and focus on becoming good citizens paid off with a perfect start with necessary skills to lead life, Alumni secured highly respected corporate jobs both in India and abroad.
Given their association with SSSHEP many of Ex-students in fact all of them, continue their bonding with project. They provide support to next batch students by hand holding them morally and academically. In Summary’2022, a reunion was held, 30 boys now working in various corporates turned up and shared their experiences – It was heart warming to see their success stories. A project that started as small scale, now educated 40 boys is a simple reflection of blessings and support from many well wishers.
Past two years education has been virtual due to COVID, students were provisioned with laptop’s and high speed internet. Given program focuses on kids from rural and deprived background, it was a challenge in coping with virtual based learning which was complemented by additional support from senior brothers, private tuitions and additional study hours.
Alumni of Sri Sathya Sai Higher Education Program gained corporate work experience through their professional careers are now helping fellow students to skill development. A true example of complete cycle by learning from world and giving it back- one of the success factors.
